Addis Ababa, February 9, 2024 (Addis Walta) The first airplane built in Ethiopia, Tsehay, arrived in Addis Ababa late this afternoon.
Tsehay was built by the collaborative efforts of the German engineer and pilot of the emperor, Herr Ludwig Weber, and Ethiopians in early 1935.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, who travelled to Rome in over a week ago for Italy-Africa Summit, officially received the airplane from Italian Government during his visit in Rome ten days ago.
Ethiopian and Italian officials welcomed Tsehay at Bole International Airport.
The airplane was taken to Italy during the second Italian invasion and stayed in Italian museum since 1941.
The plane was named after the then daughter of Emperor Haileselassie I, Princess Tsehay.
